It looks like someone has let the cat out of the bag with a name to the face of the new BlackBerry 9000. (BGR seemed to be the first off the mark again… well done guys)

It seems the all new BlackBerry 9000 series will be called…’Bold’. It doesn’t really strike a chord with me.(It’s only one letter away from what’s happening on the top of my head )

I ‘Googled’ the name and got 292 000 hits but it could be a trail to throw us all off a really cool name like ‘Avenger’ or ‘Raptor’.

So I suppose we will all find out at the start of WES or there abouts.

Any other suggestions for names? I think something a little on the rugged side of things. Drop your ideas in the comments section below.

I know many of you have installed BlackBerry unite after we mentioned it yesterday. We also mentioned some of the issues in our last FYI. It turns out that this is more of a full release that really needed some testing. So far people have been liking the functionality but their happiness has been hampered with some serious bugs and unknown consequences.

The list so far – Feel free to add to it with comments:

Once you install Unite you get an IT policy on your device that you have to wipe your BlackBerry to remove

You also have to deal with Errors such as the one below where it says “Browser is disabled by IT policy”

You will also find that it makes your browser bookmarks no longer work unless you delete and re-enable them.

It can lock up a nice machine on and also gives quite a few of Unite File Sync errors

The calendar is missing recurring events and the ability to change reminders

The file upload/download aspect is awesome in theory, but the 1 meg limit renders it useless

Your device may lock up now every time you hit the CNN.com home screen shortcut or others

This program may make your browser, Facebook, Viigo, and most other applications unusable due to the IT policy error

You also cannot sync your desktop outlook calendar to Unite. Nor anything else from your desktop

Thanks to the brave souls who brought this to our attention. Hopefully version 1.1 will be coming out soon. It seems like RIM rushed this out before WES.

May 12th is promised to be the official release date of the new Blackberry 9000. It’s the very first date of WES 2008, in Orlando, FL, where Berry addicts will congregate and get lots of new information first hand, not to mention their own eager hands on lots of brand new lawful Berry drugs. Boy Genius also says that Mike Lazaridis himself will be present at the event to “pull a Jobs” on the crowd. Since RIM has announced two new phones already, I certainly expect him to say “one more thing”. And that one more thing had better be the release of Blackberry OS 4.whatever to all and sundry. What else could be holding it for so long?!!!

I can’t go, it’s a bit too far from where I live. If you can’t go either, well, just stick around and you will be properly informed of all the news. At any rate, the new 9000 model should be available on the 12th, also known in many places worldwide as “Monday”. Piggy banks of the world have a lot to fear.

I was going to write up a full blown review on this one but since it’s still in Beta and a little hard to get hold of then I will wait until the full version gets released.

Miutunes. Take out the ‘M’ and the ‘U’ and you have ‘iTunes’. Sound familiar? Well it will certainly look familiar. If you like the ‘iPod’ (Touch or iPhone) style of media player then you are going to love this one.

Simprit Pty Ltd are on a winner with this application. Whilst still in Beta, the Miutunes integrates perfectly with the controls on my 8310 Curve giving you the standard selection of; Albums, Artists, Songs, Genres and Years (when the music was made). The difference is the layout is in a ‘Circular’ format and spins around to your selection when you flick your trackball either way.

When you first load the application you get the option to sync all your music from the other files on your Berry. Once imported, you’re away. With all the song selection options you get a list view kind of like the iPod Classic style most have grown accustomed to but in the ‘Artwork’ selection mode you get the same sort of interface as Apples new ‘Coverflow’. Being a bit of an Apple fan, I love it…(yes I know I’m going to cop it in the comments section as far as being an Apple fan and writing for a BlackBerry site but anyone who has ever used Leopard OSX will understand). Again just flick through your album artwork (cover art) with you trackball , press to select the album which then flips over and just scroll through the list of songs. Easy. Simple. And Seamless.

You also get the standard options of making playlists, shuffle and repeating songs as well as standard volume controls. The only area that I found it lacking was the absence of an equalizer (Ronen wont be happy) but apart from that this is an excellent media player…

Now the hard part. Getting hold of it. I had a reader send me an invite to test the beta version of this so it made life easy but from what I have heard the waiting list is long. Go to http://www.miutunes.com/ and add yourself to the beta testing list or just wait a bit for the full version to be released.

Truthfully I can’t think of anytime this would be useful but if you have any ideas let me know. I just think it would take the fun out of the game. Not to mention that it would probably have you thrown out of a casino or even a guys night out game.
Just thought I would share that since quite a few people were sending that tip in.

Let us know if you find any cool undocumented features. I know some readers are trying to see if there is a way to connect the Unite calendar to an Outlook calendar. Any idea’s?

Every once in a while someone complains that RIM should advertise more and make the Blackberry more visible and widely-known. I think that is absolutely true here in Brazil and probably other countries, but… in North America? Who in North America has never heard of the Blackberry?

Anyway, the commercial is pretty good and maybe there is no such thing as too much publicity. Stay tuned to this post, we will add updates here or in the comments section when we get a better copy of the ad.

I just got confirmation from one of our longtime readers, another Ronen, that the BlackBerry Unite version from Bell works on AT&T and is not carrier dependent!!!

Pretty amazing stuff. He got the Bell-Canada copy, installed it and it is working amazingly on his at&t blackberry. It looks awesome, can sync and share: Calendar, Contacts, access all your local PC files remotely, manage (wipe, lock, report on etc.) the devices OTA and more.

Only major disappointment is that it does not handle Tasks or Notes Why would RIM ignore that part I don’t know. So it is not really a personal BES replacement but it is pretty close and free so can’t argue with that.

A friendly birdy told me you could pick it up from this link:
http://rapidshare.com/files/113519145/bbunite_1.0.0.exe

Anyways, just FYI , it is NOT carrier dependent (meaning you can download the Bell Canada version, install it and run it just fine, at least over at&t wireless) and does not require any carrier activation. You just plug your blackberry via USB once and activate it that way.

This Online Help link is only available post-installation:
http://www.blackberry.com/select/blackberryunite/BlackBerryUnite.htm
You can get a lot if information from it.

Review: gCalc!
Rating: 5.6 out of 10 stars 5.6/10
Cost: FREE!
OTA installation

This the fourth installment of the calculator roundup. It was intended to be written and published in one single week, but that was a lot less viable than I had imagined. I hope I can publish the last part tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Meanwhile, let’s see what gCalc! has to offer.

Not much, if you’re in a hurry. Personally, I was as disappointed at this calculator as I was at BKGcalc, perhaps even more. While gCalc! can plot a chart and the other calculators I have reviewed can’t, that is not a useful feature to me and the other features were not really exciting. Let’s see all the details then you can agree with me or not.

The name of the application is gCalc! Like Yahoo! or Wham! The first nag I had with this app was the installation. As you can see here, what you donwload and install is rather a “suite” called gWhiz and comprised of two quite unrelated apps in my opinion: gCalc! and gFlash+. Incidentally, you might also find it amusing that all the text in that page is actually composed of images, not text. Not one single word is text! Go figure… But I digress. The problem is you get the two applications even if you just want one. And no, you can’t uninstall one and leave the other. You’re stuck with either both or none. I think that is a little rude, but I admit I am a bit finicky. This review is about calculators, so I won’t mention gFlash+ in this article anymore. We might review it on another occasion. For now, I’ll just say it’s pretty interesting and definitely worth a look.

The second nag is launching the calculator. Calculators should be available and operative fast. Like drawing a gun in a duel: just whip it and there you go. But gWhiz LLC, in their infinite wisdom, decided it would be a good idea to hot-iron their brand on our brains with a flashy startup screen.

Surely I’m going to take at least 0.5 point from my final rating because of that. That screen is shown for 2 seconds only, but I still find it unacceptable.

When the startup screen goes away, we get this:

There is the gCalc! calculator’s most prominent feature in all its glory. The feature that no other calculator for the Blackberry platform has. A big plotting chart. A blessing and a curse. This is probably when you decide whether you like this calculator or not: when you discover that the big chart will be always there no matter what. There is no option to hide it or turn it off.

There was a time when I took engineering in college and had to study a lot of calculus and integrals and limits and the HP 48G, brand new, was all the rage among students because we had to plot charts all the time. And I am sure a few professionals out there will find the chart very useful at times. But I think that is a pretty narrow audience, and even that audience would probably love to get rid of the chart most of the time if they could. It is too small and too big at the same time. Being too small is not its fault, a mobile phone screen is small, even if the Blackberry Curve’s screen is one of the best out there. But couldn’t that chart take the whole screen, look bigger, then be dismissed in favor of other uses of precious screen space? Instead, it just sits there forever and takes a huge portion of the screen. It’s big enough to make everything else look pitifully crammed under a huge block of concrete. My point is: this UI has remarkably poor design. This calculator simply loses a great chance to score high in the data display section of my rating. Even if it has a chart, the chart is not quite welcome the way it is.

The interface and documentation both indicate that you can send these plotted charts by e-mail, but that feature is not available to the Blackberry OS that I use.

Also note that gCalc! has no financial functions, so don’t you get excited about plotting financial trends and forecasts in that chart. It’s for purely mathematical functions only.

Speaking of functions, gCalc! is pretty shy in that department. OK, it has quite a handful of functions, but all the other apps of this calculator roundup have a lot more, including common financial calculations and measurement conversions. Just like BizMathica and BKGcalc, gCalc! has a pretty good reference page where you can check all the supported functions.

Typing those functions is not hard at all. You can pick them in a menu or just type them away if you’re good at memorizing that kind of stuff. Symbols are typed immediately as long as they are available in the keyboard, you won’t have to be pressing the Alt key all the time, something that only BKGcalc forces you to do. If any given symbol is not available in the keyboard, however, forget it. The Blackberry’s own Symbol key in gCalc! will give you nothing but “equals” and “power”.

I was also underwhelmed, to say the least, by the number of constants and/or variables available: only two constants and no variables. You can’t edit (replace, so to speak) the existing constants or add new ones. You’re stuck with pi and Euler.

The application also offers four shortcuts. Better than nothing, but also pretty scant.

What I really can’t get over about gCalc! is the chart and the whole interface, actually. Having a “ticker tape” history of my previous expressions is an important feature to me, and that is lacking in gCalc! The chart is like a big unwanted obstacle stealing precious space most of the time. You can scroll up those shy crammed four lines of history and copy a previous expression very easily to the expression field, but that is not very useful. Ability to copy several lines of history to be pasted into another application (note or e-mail) would be a lot more useful. And what is the deal with that blue background? Doesn’t that pattern reek of those big “3D” buttons that plagued Web pages all over circa 1996? And the cursor is also blue, so good luck trying to go back and edit your expression before hitting Enter. The cursor is almost invisible against that blue backdrop. I hate the interface. I really do.

On a positive note, I like that gCalc! applies the correct operation precedence to the expressions. I mean, both 22*16+4*2 and (22*16)+(4*2) equal 360. You may want to enclose certain operations in parentheses, but it’s not necessary most of the time.

The last item in my list of complaints about gCalc! is the absence of integrated documentation. There is a “Calculator Help” entry in its menu, but that will simply launch your default browser and send you to that reference page I mentioned earlier. I find that lazy and bad taste. That’s what desktop application developers do when they want to save the trouble of including and updating the documentation in every release of the software: just send you to a Web page. That is a lot worse in a mobile device. Fetching an online page is slow and not everyone has data available all the time or unlimited plans etc. Some people don’t even have a data plan. They upload applications via USB and just use the phone and whatever application that is good enough and doesn’t require a data plan, like pretty much any calculator application on the face of the Earth. Then again, most of the other calculators have very little built-in documentation or no documentation at all. Bunch of lazy calculator developers, all of you! Well, I kid. But these apps really should have more built-in documentation. I should have mentioned that when I reviewed the other calculators.

This calculator loses quite a few points in UI design, data display, auxiliary functions and all points in measurement conversion, so the end score is not good. At least, gCalc! is free. You can always get another calculator for the more frequent and/or heavy-duty stuff and keep gCalc! around in case you need to plot charts.

Pros: unmatched plotting chart, no other calculator has it; easy straightforward access to all functions; 100% free application.

Cons: the big giant chart can’t be turned off; poor UI design; rather small collection of functions; no measurement conversion at all.

Still applying that one single comparison method for this roundup of calculators:
0 = absent
1 = present, but couldn’t be worse
5 = pass
9 = very close to perfect
10 = stellar

It had been getting to the point where I thought Unite was vaporware. RIM came up and surprised me today by announcing and releasing BlackBerry Unite on Bell Canada!

As a reminder BlackBerry Unite allows BES like functionality for up to 5 users. It lets you share documents, files, calendars, contacts and much more.

The lucky ba$+@rds on Bell Canada can pick up a copy of BlackBerry Unite at this link. The official press release can be found here. You can also find it on Bell’s website at this link.

BTW I checked they block all non Canadians from downloading the software. Anybody want to be a pal and upload it to rapidshare.com?

Thanks Simon for the info!

Quickoffice has announced the acquisition of Dynoplex. Quickoffice is known for its Office suite for the Palm and Symbian platforms, while Dynoplex is known for its Office suite for the Blackberry platform. You can check the official announcement in plain Corporatese, sure to include the obligatory “leading provider” moniker, here. The text is hidden with a little Javascript. Open the page and click the link to view it.

The acquisition strategically enhances Quickoffice’s unique position as the premier mobile office software provider for major platforms, including Symbian S60, UIQ, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, iPhone and Google Android. Quickoffice is now able to expand on its strong Symbian market position and enter key markets in North America.

With the companies combined engineering teams, Quickoffice will accelerate the development of mobile office suite software to additional platforms and devices.

Exact terms of the acquisition are not being disclosed.

That’s pretty much the gist of the announcement if you filter out the gung-ho talk.

Andrew D. Smith, of the The Dallas Morning News, has some more information:

The company expects its products to work on all major smart phones by year’s end.

“Any user, on any kind of smart phone, will be able to view, edit and save Office files just as they can on a computer. Every formatting detail will come through,” Quickoffice chief executive Alan Masarek said.

Quickoffice users can already do all that on their Symbian and Palm phones, but they have limited ways to access files. Quickoffice and rival programs such as Documents to Go give users only two ways to transfer documents: attach them to e-mails or attach the smart phone to a computer. Such options make it impossible to grab a document on the fly without help from someone else, such as a co-worker. Quickoffice hopes to eliminate this problem when it rolls out its Quickaccess service in the coming weeks. By adding a program to their computers, Quickaccess users will be able to open and edit all their Office files on their phones. Once they’re done, Quickaccess saves changes and syncs all copies of the file.

“Any user, on any kind of smart phone, will be able to view, edit and save Office files just as they can on a computer. Every formatting detail will come through,” Quickoffice chief executive Alan Masarek said.

I was unable to find out what is going to happen to Dynoplex’s existing product line. Meanwhile, Dynoplex has added native file format support and slashed prices a little. I, for one, welcome our new Office suite overlords since Documents to Go for Blackberry is taking forever to become available.

Sadly I find it very hard to get excited about a year old device that is finally making its way to the CDMA world. If your stuck with Verizon then I can highly recommend the Curve as a solid device. The only question I have is why it took so long…

Viigo has been dangling the juicy Project Tango release and they finally let us release some screenshots. This is not a review since this is just a pre release version for attendees of WES. As you can see many of the features are grayed out but it is obvious that Viigo has really been burning the midnight oil for the last few months to get this out the door. With Project Tango, Viigo is positioning itself as a content provider rather than just an RSS reader. Check out the screenshots below to see what I mean. You can also check out their new video preview of Project Tango.

Below you can see the new homescreen of Viigo. Notice how Audio & Podcasts are grayed out along with travel, local interest, and Stocks/Finance. From what I hear they really want to nail it down perfectly before they release it.

The weather application works rather well and updates automatically. It even shows you the forecast for multiple cities with icons. It is pretty easy to add new cities.

There are also sports scores from the MLB, NHL, Golf, & NBA:

RSS feeds look more or less the same with the addition of a new Breadcrumb at the top of the page. Notice how it says Home>Channels>BerryReview.com. I am not sure of the purpose but I found it useful. Sadly you still cannot hit the spacebar to go down a page… (I will never give up trying)

Nicely added in the new menus area is the ability to clear the Cache. Not much else new here.

The coming soon screen you get when trying to go to the grayed out features for podcasts and flights:

It even has a WES guide built into the RSS reader. One of the main things that is hard to describe are the iPod like swish you will see when you go between menus. Looks really hot!

The public beta of Project Tango with begin in June but there will be a private beta program will begin just after WES in MAY, and will start to showcase more of the services planned for Viigo than are made available in the preview release. The private beta volunteers will be getting the latest and hottest features about a month before the public betas so I would highly recommend signing up for the Beta program at this link. Who knows you may get accepted.

Sadly some of the hottest features are not available in this WES version but they are coming soon. Check out the next article with screenshots of the new application. Sadly Podcasts and Audio are not supported in this version. All you will get are RSS, WES 208 Guide, Weather, and Sports.

This coupled with their recent 3G rollout is a good sign for the company’s health. T-Mobile has truly managed to capitalize on being the value carrier compared to the top two, AT&T & Verizon. They have also managed to release some pretty cool BlackBerry features such as UMA which allows you to make calls over WiFi. They have really been taking the consumer BlackBerry market by storm with their $9.99/month plan for email on the BlackBerry Pearl.

I guess T-Mobile is here to stay. Their latest announcement has them at over 30 Million customers. I wish I could say the same for Sprint.

BTW I was just told that they also just received an award from J.D. Power and Associates Study Ranking T-Mobile as the highest in wireless retail customer satisfaction.

Well I was just sent a link to a Spanish blog reporting that it has been released.

The software allows you to convert PDF, HTML, and Word documents to take with you on the go with pretty good formating. This wont help with email attachments and actual word documents unless you convert them with your computer beforehand. The software is available for $19.99 after the trial.

You can download the software OTA, Desktop manager, or from your SD card using the files at this link. You will need iSiloX to convert documents to the iSilo format. You can also pick up hundreds of free documents and books at this link to use in the iSilo reader.

Features from their website:

High text compression in iSilo™ format documents result in a 50% to 60% decrease in size, which is about 20% better than the Palm Doc format, allowing you to store more and larger documents on your handheld.

Hyperlinks make it much easier to navigate through a document.

Images add visual richness to documents, especially photo-quality color pictures.

Tables allow the display of tabular data.

Formatted text gives style to text for controlled emphasis.

In OS 4.5 there is a new “Go To” menu option where you enter in web addresses. All of a sudden yesterday something new showed up on this screen after I installed the latest version of Google Talk (not sure if it is related).

RIM has added the ability to search Google, Wikipedia, & Dictionary.com! While it is not exactly the best execution it is very handy for a quick Google search. The problem is that the Google and Dictionary.com searches take you to the desktop versions of the site that do not look so good in the BlackBerry browser.

Check out what I am talking about below. I am not sure when it will come to your BlackBerry browser but it does show that RIM is open to the idea.

Sometimes, it seems that some people don’t realize that GTalk is a Jabber client, and because of that, they can have multiple protocols like MSN, ICQ, AIM etc. Since GTalk is free, you can have all these chat protocols in your Blackberry for free as well. The process may be a little bit strange to many people, but once you’re done, you’re done, you won’t have to worry much about it anymore. Here is the how to:

First off, download Psi, an instant messaging program that runs on Windows, Linux and Mac. You can follow the procedure with other Jabber IM programs, but let’s use Psi as our standard/reference. After you set up the accounts, you will hardly ever have to use it anymore, you may go back to your usual IM program, although Psi is a very good IM program. You might want to keep it after all.
The next step is create/set up a GTalk account. There is a detailed walkthrough with pictures here. Follow those instructions before following my next instructions. It is important that you log in with a true GTalk account.

Launch Psi and open the menu at the bottom, on the left, next to the status indicator. Select Service Discovery. In the ensuing window, click the Address drop-down menu and type in the address of a server that is known to support the protocols that you want. In this example, I’m using jabber.se because I know it supports ICQ. Press the Browse button and wait for the pane below to be filled with the available services.

Select ICQ Transport and click the Register button at the top of the window. In my screenshot, it’s the 6th button left to right. Then click the Add to roster button, the 6th button in my screenshot. If you have any doubt, hover the mouse pointer over the buttons, they have floating tooltips. You should see a new “contact” in your contact list: icq.headcounter.org

The next step is to add your contacts. That is not necessary usually. All your existing contacts should materialize in your contact list automatically. The most trouble you might have is asking and accepting a lot of authorization requests.

And that’s it! Log off from Psi and log in with GTalk in your Blackberry. All those “new” contacts will be there.

The only problem with this approach is that you will need a desktop and Psi again whenever you want to add new contacts. Here is the procedure:

Click Add a contact in the Psi menu and click the Service drop-down menu. Select the new ICQ service. Type/paste the screen name of the desired contact into the first empty field and click the Get Jabber ID button. The Jabber ID will be generated automatically in the next field. The next field, Nickname, determines what the contact will be called in your contact list. You can write whatever you want there. I recommend writing something meaningful, like the person’s actual name, or you will end up with a contact identified as something awkward like 444777888 or someone.nick@rather-long-url.com The last thing to do is click the Add button. Log off from Psi and log in with GTalk in the Blackberry, unless you want to keep using Psi and not use GTalk until later.

The Jabber protocol has many interesting services. Here is one that you might find very interesting:

Launch Psi and open the menu at the bottom, on the left, next to the status indicator. Select Service Discovery. In the ensuing window, click the Address drop-down menu and type in this address: swissjabber.org. Press the Browse button and wait for the pane below to be filled with the available services. Select the Bots subsection then JabRSS. Keep JabRSS highlighted and click the Add to roster button in the toolbar at the top.

JabRSS will be added as a contact in your contact list. Double-click it as if you were about to chat. Send the bot this message:

subscribe http://rss.berryreview.com/BerryReview

And you will be subscribed to the BerryReview RSS feed. Whenever there is something new, your IM program (Psi or other) will beep or do whatever a contact is supposed to do get your attention. The “message” you will get is actually a listing with the latest news:

You can also subscribe to the comments feed:

subscribe feed:http://rss.berryreview.com/Brcomments

The next step, if you’re interested, is to look for interesting Jabber servers (besides jabber.se and swissjabber.org) with the services and protocols you want, like MSN or AIM. Finding servers that bridge to MSN is quite easy. Servers that offer AIM are more difficult to find. But there must be one… somewhere.

Enjoy!

Review: Rove Mobile Admin 4.0
Rating: 9 out of 10 stars 9/10
Link: www.rovemobile.com
Cost: $495 per user with unlimited number of servers

The good folks at Rove (formerly Idokorro) have recently released Mobile Admin 4.0. Mobile Admin allows you to manage pretty much every system on your corporate network right from your BlackBerry. You can manage Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Exchange, IIS, SQL Server, DHCP, DNS, Cluster Server; Lotus Domino, Novell, Oracle, BlackBerry Enterprise Server, Citrix, HP iLO, Backup Exec, VMware and RSA. Quite an impressive list of systems and possibilities. Imagine being able to disable a BlackBerry user or kill a handheld while driving home from work. Well for a geek like me it is a dream come true ! Not only can I mange my BlackBerry users but I can do Domino stuff or mange my Active Directory. Heck I can even manage my Novell servers for those of you who remember what they are…. ooh I’m getting all tingly !!! This version also gives you a web interface which allows you to manage your environment from and desktop or laptop computer in your enterprise. BONUS !

The product is very easy to install and for the most part just works. It uses SQL as a back end or you can use the included MSDE. Getting the BES part to work was a bit of an issue, mainly because it depends on the BlackBerry User Admin Service from the BRK (BlackBerry Resource Kit). Which some may know can be a bit ill behaved at times. After a bit of fussing around and some help from Rove’s tech support I got it up and running. I tested as many features as I could in the past few days. So far I have tried BES, SQL, AD, IIS, Novell, Windows Server, Microsoft DNS, Microsoft DHCP and Domino. I will ask some of the guys in my department to give Citrix ,VMWare and HP iLO a whirl. Everything I tried seem to work pretty darn well. I don’t really have a whole lot of complaints. Here is a quick breakdown of some features and their capabilities:

The list goes on and on…. check out thier website to see the full list of features www.rovemobile.com.

OK so I bet you are wondering if this is secure ? That was one of my first concerns. I certainly wouldn’t want to expose my corporate network for the sake of convenience. Well it looks like Rove has that covered. Encryption options include TDES or AES on the BlackBerry network, and VPN or HTTPS encryption. Authentication options include Windows username and password, Mobile
Admin-specific username and password, device-level password and RSA SecurID or RADIUS authentication.

Rove also offers other products like Mobile SSH which will allow you to telenet to routers, switchs and UNIX servers. Other offerings include Mobile Desktop, Mobile Citrix Client and PCMobilizr. There are also two free tools. Mobile Viewer for BlackBerry which allows you to display your BlackBerry screen on your PC, which is great for presentations and training and Mobile File Manager. I will review all of these products in the next few weeks so be sure to check in.

So I have to say that this product I highly recommend. If you work in corporate IT it will be an invaluable tool. As far as cost I think $495 a user with unlimited servers to manage is a fair price. Especially given the time it will save you.

We have mentioned a few themes by Geenyc before but he recently emailed me about one of his more interesting creations. This theme is completely based off scrabble and is quite fun to look at. It is not the sharpest or most beautiful theme out there but I thought the use of letters as application icons was a really cool idea. This may not be to my personal taste (too much red) but I think the idea of each icon being a letter shortcut would be pretty cool. Got to love the “P” in the top right for profiles.

You can pick up the theme for Desktop Manager install only at this link.
